The country’s 150 counties took the lead in realizing the mechanization of the main crop production

In order to implement the plan of “building 500 full-mechanized pilot counties” in the “Outline for the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development,” the Ministry of Agriculture has carried out the nationwide promotion of the mechanization of the entire crop production and started Demonstration County to create a job. Recently, based on the evaluation index system for self-assessment and re-evaluation and spot checks, the Ministry of Agriculture confirmed that the second batch of 122 full-mechanized demonstration counties was announced. Up to now, 150 counties across the country have taken the lead in basically mechanized the production of major crops, including the main producing counties in such large-scale crops as rice, wheat, corn, potatoes, rapeseed, soybean, peanut and cotton.

Overall, the 150 demonstration counties have a high level of mechanized operations, strong technical support and organizational safeguards in place, which is the benchmark for the mechanized development of agricultural production. The comprehensive mechanization rates of major grain crops and cash crops for cultivation in all demonstration counties exceeded 90% and 80% respectively, and the plant protection and straw treatment efficiency and the drying mechanization in the producing areas reached 60%, 80% and 40% respectively. The basic realization of full mechanization has significantly promoted the scale, cost reduction and efficiency gains of local agricultural production, adding new momentum to the prosperity of the industry and agricultural modernization.

The Ministry of Agriculture requires agricultural authorities at all levels to play the leading role in demonstrating the county standards and continue to focus on major crops, key producing areas and short courses so as to further promote the mechanization of major crop production. To promote the construction to promote more areas continue to raise the level of mechanization throughout. We will continue to increase policy support for demonstration counties and encourage them to take the lead in expanding to full mechanization, upgrading to high-quality and high-efficiency mechanization, accumulating experience for the transformation and upgrading of agricultural mechanization in the country, and making new contributions to speeding up agricultural and rural modernization.
