Portuguese company CEV has partnered with Lusosem to launch the biofungicide PROBLAD PLUS in Europe.

PROBLAD PLUS is a biological defensive for agriculture whose active principle is a new protein called BLAD, obtained from the germination process of the leguminous lupine (Lupinus albus).

According to CEV, PROBLAD PLUS is recommended against multiple fungi and some bacteria that attack a variety of agricultural crops. Produced as a concentrated solution, the biofungicide contains 250 g of active BLAD per liter of solution.

Also, according to CEV, PROBLAD PLUS can be applied as a leaf spray, alone, or combined in the application syrup with other registered products. Conventional equipment for the application of products by land or air can be used, as well as in sprinklers or irrigation systems by chemigation.

Biofungicide is indicated to combat fungal diseases, such as Oidium (Sphaerotheca fuliginea), Gray Rot (Botrytis cinerea) and Moniliose (Monilia spp). The product has a recommendation for the following crops: strawberry, vine, tomato and stone fruits (peach, cherry, etc.).

“The effectiveness of the PROBLAD PLUS biofungicide, its biological origin, action spectrum, compatibility and new mode of action make it the ideal partner in crop protection management programs in tank mixes or rotational programs with other fungicides”, said CEV.

The biofungicide PROBLAD PLUS is in the process of being registered in Europe and is expected to be marketed in Portugal in 2021. Lusosem explains that “it has always followed closely after the creation of BLAD, and during the last two years it has been collaborating in the development of the product and the implementation of field trials, which demonstrated, as expected, that this Portuguese biofungicide has high efficacy in the control of fungi in target crops.”

“The biofungicide containing BLAD will be an excellent natural tool for crop protection, suitable for rotation with other fungicides, reducing the level of residues in agricultural products and minimizing the development of resistance to conventional active substances. BLAD, with its multiple modes of action, is the only active substance listed by FRAC in the BM01 category,” adds Lusosem.

CEV recognizes in Lusosem the characteristics and capacities needed to successfully develop and distribute this biofungicide in the Portuguese market. “Lusosem has a deep knowledge of the market and the needs and trends of the market, as well as a position of proximity to the farmers, which fits in full with the profile that the CEV intends for its business partners, “said CEV officials.

CEV is present in the market through a network of distributors, currently selling its products to the United States, Canada, South Korea, Australia and China. The products are being registered in Europe, Japan, Mexico, Chile and Argentina. Other countries will also see registration soon.
