Freedonia group’s new report, “pesticide market in the United States” shows, by 2020 the US pesticide active ingredient is expected to reach 57 million pounds, the market value will reach 910 million US dollars.
Due to some factors, the pesticide market will continue to be dominated by a handful of products, the development of new pesticides slow. Some practices in integrated pest management hamper the growth of the pesticide market, and the continued development of biopesticides and transgenic plants also limits the market for conventional pesticides.
Another factor in the pesticide market is the development of formulations with lower levels of active ingredients, mainly due to the introduction of more efficient active ingredients, improved additives and social concerns arising from high pesticide residues in the environment.
In 2015, pesticides exceeded herbicides as the most important pesticide category. Future, newer, safer and more valuable products will continue to promote pesticide market growth.
