As the world’s largest producer and consumer of nitrogen fertilizer, China’s nitrogen fertilizer utilization rate is only 25% to 35%, which is 15% to 30% lower than that of European and American countries. It is not only a huge economic waste, but also causes serious ecological and environmental problems. Improving fertilizer utilization rate, strengthening fertilizer science and technology research, and promoting technological innovation in the fertilizer industry are the development directions of China’s agriculture and fertilizer industry. This was the consensus reached at the 17th World Fertilizer Conference held on September 3-7.

It is understood that in recent years, China’s chemical fertilizer application has increased by three times. Zhang Fusuo, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, pointed out that due to excessive fertilization, soil acidification is serious, food pests and diseases are intensified, and agriculture enters a vicious circle. “China proposes green agriculture and must use chemical fertilizers reasonably. In the next 10 years, China will adopt a mixed farming model. In some places, land will be concentrated to build large farms, and in some places, small farmers will be cultivated. Advanced technologies and The concept is conveyed to the farmers, changing farmers’ farming methods and planting habits, and improving fertilizer utilization.” Zhang Fusuo said.

Ewald Schnuger, President of the International Fertilizer Science Center, said that the mascot of this conference is earthworm, which can turn soil and make soil breathable, which is of great value to soil health. Taking earthworm as a mascot, the purpose is to remind everyone to love the soil. More and more fertilizers used by growers have threatened soil health, so precision fertilization should be done in the future.

“The amount of fertilizer input is large, and the utilization rate is much lower than the world average, which brings losses to the Chinese economy and also has an impact on the environment.” Ji Lanzhu, chairman of the Asia Center of the International Fertilizer Science Center, said that in the future, China should conduct fixed-point testing on soil. What kind of elements are applied in the absence of any nutrient elements, which are determined according to the nutrients needed for different growth periods of the crops, and the soil testing formula fertilization is implemented to the terminal. “The future development direction of fertilizers will be efficient, long-lasting and functional, and precision agriculture must have new fertilizers to participate.”

It is reported that the conference set up “coated fertilizer and compound fertilizer”, “stable fertilizer and fertilizer conversion process”, “carbon-based fertilizer and amino acid fertilizer”, “fertilization and environment”, “soil nutrient management and fertilization”, “bio-organic fertilizer” and “medium trace elements” Nine topical sessions, such as “fertilizer production and technology” and “plant nutrition and nutrient utilization”, more than 30 experts and scholars at home and abroad reported on the latest developments and development trends in fertilizer research and application. In addition, the conference also set up a 3,000 square meters of technical achievements and product display areas, more than 40 fertilizer companies to participate.
