Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has publicly solicited opinions and plans to issue a notice to ban the four high-toxic and high-risk pesticides such as phorate.

It is understood that phorate, aldicarb and acesulfame are highly toxic pesticides, which have hidden dangers in human and animal safety, agricultural product quality safety and ecological environment safety. The sulfluramid metabolite PFOS is highly toxic, difficult to decompose, and easily harmful to the environment and humans and animals. According to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, China should stop the production and use of sulfluramid from March 25, 2019.

In order to ensure the quality and safety of agricultural products and the safety of ecological environment, according to the relevant provisions of the “Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China” and “Regulations on the Administration of Pesticide”, on the basis of risk assessment, after review by the National Pesticide Registration Review Committee, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs intends to publish it. From the date of application, new pesticide registration applications and new pesticide production license applications containing phorate, aldicarb and acesulfame products will no longer be accepted and approved.

Since October 1, 2020, the sale and use of phorate, aldicarb and acesulfame products in the territory are prohibited. Since October 1, 2023, the production licenses for phorate, aldicarb and sulphate have been revoked, and the production of phorate, aldicarb and acesulfame products is prohibited.

The pesticide registration certificate and production license for the flubendiamide products shall be revoked from the date of publication of the announcement. Since March 26, 2019, the sale and use of flubendiamide pesticide products has been banned.
