Reporter learned from the Sichuan Provincial Department of Agriculture, pesticide use in Sichuan Province for three consecutive years of negative growth, reducing the total use of pesticides more than 3,200 tons.

Since 2015, Sichuan Province has implemented the pesticide reduction and control actions, and the pesticide use in the province has been linked to a negative growth of three years. According to statistics, the amount of pesticide used in Sichuan in 2017 is reduced by 1,500 tons compared with that in 2016, a decrease of 1,500 tons in 2016 and a decrease of 1,200 tons in 2015 over the same period of last year.

In Sichuan Province, 121 pest monitoring and early warning and control regional stations, 60 provincial-level key pest and disease monitoring stations and 800 mass measurement stations have been established. The forecast accuracy of pests and diseases is over 90%. Through the introduction of new green prevention and control technologies and products from abroad, Sichuan Province has carried out full-scale pest and disease control demonstration in 60 counties for three years in a row to promote such green prevention and control technologies as biological prevention and control, physical and chemical trapping and killing. Since 2015, a total of more than 20 million mu of green prevention and control demonstration area has been built in the province. The annual emission of radiation has led to the implementation of a large area of ​​more than 15 million mu of green prevention and control.

From 2015 onwards, Sichuan Province will allocate 40 million yuan of funds every year to carry out pilot projects of government procurement of plant protection pest and disease control services in 45-50 counties and cultivate more than 540 plant protection social service organizations with 38,000 employees. Every year, the government purchases nearly 100 million mu of paddy pest control services at the paddy stage, bringing about more than 40 million mu times of specialization of rice diseases and pests in the province.

Sichuan Province also vigorously promote high efficiency and low toxicity low residual pesticides and modern high-efficient plant protection machinery. In 2017, the province’s low-toxic and micro-toxic pesticides accounted for more than 60%, an increase of 6% over 2015, and the use of bio-pesticides reached over 1,400 tons.
