Recently, the author learned from the Department of Land and Resources of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region that a 16,000 square kilometer selenium-enriched soil has been initially discovered in Guangxi during the “Thirteenth Five-Year” land quality geochemical evaluation project that was carried out in 2017.
In the 100 rural village of Longzhou Town, Chongzuo City, the technician of Guangxi Geological Survey Institute, which is responsible for the project area in the area, is currently sampling the soil. They told the author that in order to fully obtain accurate data, after completing the surface soil sampling chemical analysis, they will also conduct investigations and tests on irrigation water, special chemical fertilizers, and dry and wet deposition in the atmosphere. Based on the obtained anomaly data, crops will be developed in some regions. And surveys of root soils and other projects, all-round “Pulse” soil quality.
The project was specifically undertaken by the Guangxi Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources. Among the 23 counties that were launched in 2017, preliminary statistics have found about 16,000 square kilometers of selenium-enriched soil, accounting for 68.7% of the surveyed area; and 10,400 square kilometers of affluent have been discovered. Soil, accounting for 45.2% of the survey area. Among them, the selenium-enriched and rich farmland (including paddy fields, dry land, and garden land) covers an area of 7,434 square kilometers and 4,799 square kilometers respectively, providing scientific basis and data support for Guangxi to implement the strategy of village rejuvenation and adjustment of the agricultural industry structure.
