According to the latest statistics released by the State Customs, a total of 1.89 million tons of fertilizers were exported from China in September this year, while the volume of exports in August was 2.53 million tons, down 25.3% from the previous month. In the first three quarters of this year, China exported a total of 19.04 million tons of chemical fertilizers, down 6% over the same period of previous year. The total export value was 4.56 billion U.S. dollars, down 6.2% from the previous year.
            From the specific export situation, the fertile species of bittersweet, very different. Ammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate, ammonium chloride, ammonium sulfate and other varieties of good exports, some species continue to hit a new high export volume. In the first three quarters of this year, China exported a total of 2.3 million tons of monoammonium phosphate, an increase of 73.7% over the same period of last year, making it the largest chemical fertilizer variety. The total output of diammonium phosphate reached 4.6 million tons, an increase of 11.2% over the same period of last year. Fertilizer ammonium chloride 997000 tons, an increase of 29.2%; exports of ammonium sulfate 4.12 million tons, an increase of 20.2%; export of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer 743,000 tons, an increase of 48.1%; export 660,000 tons of calcium, an increase of 28.3 %.
            The export of urea and other varieties is poor, mainly due to the high cost of production in China, the competitiveness of the international market decline, leading to poor exports. In September, China exported only 193,000 tons of urea, a sharp drop of 71.4% over the same period of last year. The first three quarters of this year exported a total of 3,530,000 tons of urea, down 52.7% from the same period of last year. In the past, urea, China’s largest exporter of long-term fertilizers, now slides to third place behind the ranks of ammonium phosphate and ammonium sulfate.
            In terms of imports, China imported 730,000 tons of chemical fertilizers in September, up 80,000 tons from August. In the first three quarters of this year, China imported 6.72 million tons of chemical fertilizers, up 20.8% over the same period of last year. The total amount of imports was 1.72 billion U.S. dollars, down 1% year-on-year. Potassium chloride and NPK ternary compound fertilizer imports ranked first and second place. The import volume of potassium chloride in the first three quarters was 5.486 million tons, up 27% over the same period of last year; the import volume of NPK fertilizer was 892,000 tons, down 4.4% from the same period of last year.
